FDIC’s September 18, 2026 release mapped June 30 deposits at more than 75,000 domestic offices. Its Summary of Deposits supports county and metropolitan market-share comparisons, rather than measuring residents’ personal wealth. [1]

The June 2026 instructions allow allocations consistent with banks’ internal records: an account’s opening branch, most-active office or location near its owner. Some deposits can be consolidated at one office, so location totals need interpretation. [2]

The May filing notice explains another boundary: single-office institutions need not file this survey, but enter results through June Call Reports. Branch institutions submit separately, and later amendments can revise the published snapshot. [3]
