Nevada’s February 5 release reported nearly $758 million in fiscal-2025 taxable cannabis sales, down 8.6 percent. It separately recorded $95,898,378 transferred to the State Education Fund. Sales and transfers measure different things. [1]

Nevada’s statute routes retail cannabis excise-tax receipts to the State Education Fund. Wholesale receipts first support regulation and local responsibilities; the remainder goes to education. That allocation separates school support from the cost of running the regulatory system. [2]

The figures cover July 2024–June 2025. They establish a contribution to statewide education alongside falling sales, without identifying what any individual school received. [1]

The release is therefore a statewide fiscal report, not a school-by-school spending report. Readers should not infer that a particular district or campus received a fixed share from the statewide transfer.

The year-over-year sales decline also does not, by itself, explain why the transfer remained substantial. Retail activity, taxable prices, product mix, and the statutory allocation operate on related but separate tracks.

For families and educators, the practical point is limited but clear: cannabis tax receipts are one designated source in the State Education Fund, while the release does not promise a dedicated classroom program or identify a direct local payment.
