A Jeep power-steering connection triggered a park-outside recall
A wiring issue in some 2021–2025 Wranglers and Gladiators prompted a safety warning; later dealer instructions describe an available inspection and repair.

In June 2026, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warned owners of certain 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles to park outside and away from buildings and other vehicles until repaired. The agency’s June 9 notice put the initial recall population at 1,076,999 vehicles. [1]
The concern is an electrical connection at the electric-hydraulic power-steering pump. FCA’s recall filing says excessive resistance can overheat nearby combustible materials; NHTSA said fires were possible even when vehicles were switched off. [2]
The path to the recall stretched back years. FCA’s filing says it reopened its own investigation in August 2024 after more incidents, and NHTSA opened an investigation the following month. FCA reported confirming in April 2026 that a loose connection could melt and ultimately lead to a fire. [2]
The initial agency notice said FCA would notify owners when a remedy became available. A later July 2026 dealer bulletin says a remedy became available June 11 and instructs dealers to inspect and, where necessary, replace the wiring and pump. This later record changes the picture from the original waiting-for-a-remedy announcement. [3]
Owners can check the specific vehicle identification number through NHTSA’s recall lookup and contact a Jeep dealer or FCA about recall 26V363. NHTSA says the VIN search identifies unrepaired recalls, although some recently announced campaigns may not immediately show every affected VIN. Follow the manufacturer’s applicable instructions until the vehicle is remedied. [4]
