The Census Bureau has set October 29 for the public release of its 2025 American Community Survey one-year estimates and supplemental estimates. The agency announced the schedule October 22. The upcoming figures cover communities across the country, with information on housing and residents. The announcement establishes when those estimates will become public; it does not report the survey’s findings. [1]

The main one-year estimates cover eligible places with at least 65,000 residents. Supplemental estimates extend to eligible areas with populations of 20,000 or more. The release includes states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts and metropolitan areas that qualify. Those population thresholds matter when looking for a particular community: the two products do not cover identical sets of places. [1]

The survey addresses more than 40 subjects, including commuting, education, languages used at home, income, poverty and housing costs. Qualified embargo subscribers are scheduled to receive access October 27. Census says all data products, including its API and summary files, will be publicly available by 10 a.m. Eastern on October 29. Embargoed material cannot be distributed early. [1]

One topic needs particular care when comparing years. In a separate October 15 methods explanation, Census said it changed the health-insurance question for the 2025 survey following testing and feedback. The agency advises caution with historical comparisons and says insurance estimates will be absent from its comparison profiles. Comparison guidance and user notes are due alongside the one-year release. [2]
