The U.S. Election Assistance Commission announced a free national training credential for election-office employees on June 15, 2026. Its Certificate of Federal Professional Training recognizes completion of courses in the agency’s online Learning Lab. The launch announcement said anyone working in an election office could earn the credential by completing 30 training credits. [1]
The agency described the program as a supplement to training that local administrators receive from state election offices and associations. At launch, the Learning Lab offered more than 40 courses across seven areas, from office administration and accessibility to communications, election technology and work after an election. [1]
A separately dated September 10 program page explains how those credits fit together: participants take 15 core credits and at least 15 elective credits. Most modules last about 15 minutes and carry one or two credits, allowing the coursework to be completed in short sessions. [2]
The required curriculum includes chain-of-custody procedures, continuity planning, disability access, equipment testing and storage, poll-worker training, election mail and introductory audits. Electives offer additional choices across the broader subject areas. The EAC says it recognizes participants who meet the requirements and sends certificates by mail each quarter. [2]
