The Library of Congress’s July 17, 2026 update reported more than 200 additional NBC Radio Master Book volumes in Stacks. It identified Stacks as its onsite-only platform for restricted digital content. The addition expanded digitised holdings, without announcing unrestricted home access. [1]
The Library’s guide describes master books as scripts, advertising and news copy, and music lists. Its collection included 2,530 microfilm reels. Documentation broadcast by WEAF or WJZ but produced elsewhere is absent from those stations’ books. That limits what absence from a particular volume can tell a researcher. [2]
An earlier Library exhibition shows why paper records matter: a December 7, 1941 annotated Pearl Harbor script carries announcer’s emphasis marks, while a program-analysis card records interruption of scheduled programming. These complementary records describe how news was presented, beyond merely establishing that an item existed. [3]
