IPTC’s October 22, 2026 report recorded approval of ninjs 3.3, 2.4 and 1.8, adding rendition metadata and an asset-scanning date. That date concerns digitisation, rather than when the depicted event happened. [1]

The interchange standard grew from a 2012 discussion of members’ separate JSON approaches and first appeared in 2013. It represents news and publishing information for uses including content APIs, mobile applications and databases. Common properties let different systems describe material using an agreed structure. [2]

The meeting also created Publisher Transparency and Atomic News working groups. Their intended standards were for future meetings: creating a group did not establish finished rules or prove newsroom adoption. The report documents standards work, without measuring whether audiences received more reliable reporting. [1]
