Apple opened a developer preview on November 3 for adding custom app actions and content to Siri AI. Testing begins in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas. Apple expects to open App Store submissions in spring and says usage terms are still to come. [1]
The approach builds on App Intents. Apple’s WWDC walkthrough describes how a developer can define a calendar event and the details Siri can retrieve about it. Apple provides standard definitions for common types such as messages and documents. [2]
Apple engineers described a boundary at a separate WWDC lab. Apps offer their own actions to the system. Siri or Shortcuts coordinates a task across apps, so one app’s integration does not give it a direct way to run another app’s actions. [3]
Apple’s preview guide allows development-signed builds on compatible devices and internal TestFlight testing. External TestFlight groups and App Store customers cannot use the custom preview capabilities. Developers who test updates with customers have to keep that distinction in mind. [4]
The iPhone guide lists Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone 15 Pro models and iPhone 16 or later for Siri AI beta on iOS 27 or newer. Both the phone and Siri must use a supported language. [5]
