Chrome’s Gmail autofill brings inbox data to web forms
The new U.S. rollout can surface order and travel details. Chrome permissions and saved Gemini activity require separate attention.

Google began rolling out Gmail-backed form suggestions in Chrome on October 28, bringing information such as parcel tracking and flight reservations from the inbox into the browser. The feature uses Gemini with Personal Intelligence. For people repeatedly hunting through confirmation emails, it could remove a round of searching and copying; Google’s announcement establishes availability, not an independently measured time saving. [1]
The U.S. rollout covers eligible Gemini in Chrome users on desktop, Android and iOS. Google’s Chrome help page specifies adults who have opted into Personal Intelligence. On a computer, the control is in Settings, then Autofill and passwords, then Enhanced autofill: the Find and fill with Gemini switch. A Gemini-marked suggestion can also open its original Gmail message, giving users a way to check the underlying information before submitting a form. [2]
Correcting the browser’s suggestion is different from editing the email. Google says Gmail-derived information cannot be edited inside Chrome. Remove from Chrome hides an unwanted suggestion without erasing the message; deleting the original email removes the suggestion. That makes the source email worth checking when an old order or itinerary appears. [2]
The connection reaches beyond a single browser setting. Google’s Personal Intelligence instructions require a personal account, an age of at least 18 and Keep Activity enabled; work, school and supervised accounts are excluded. Connecting Google Workspace also requires the Smart features in other Google products setting. Workspace here means a connection that includes Gmail, Calendar and Drive, rather than access limited to one confirmation message. [3]
The broader Personal Intelligence controls are in Gemini’s Connected Apps settings. In the Gemini web app, Google directs users through Menu, Settings & help, then Personal Intelligence and Connected Apps. There, users can choose which services remain connected. Changing that connection and switching off Chrome’s form suggestions address different parts of the experience. [2] [3]
Google’s connected-app privacy explanation makes an important distinction: it says Gemini does not train generative models directly on an entire Gmail inbox, but summaries, excerpts and inferences used in personalized interactions can contribute to training when Keep Activity is enabled. Some interactions are reviewed by people. Google says it reduces personal information and separates reviewed interactions from the account, subject to exceptions such as addressing abuse or harm. [4]
Disconnecting an app does not erase Gemini Apps Activity. Google says history needs separate management; deleting it prevents future product-improvement use unless reviewers have already reviewed it. Turning Keep Activity off stops future chats being used to improve Google AI. However, Personal Intelligence requires that setting on, tying the form-filling convenience to a broader personalization choice. [3] [4]
