Google began rolling out Guided Learning in Classroom on November 3. A teacher can attach an AI study chat to an assignment, where it can offer prompts while students work. The same integration gives teachers information about students’ use of the activity. [1]
An enabled teacher can create an activity and attach class materials even if administrators disable Gemini access for students. [2]
Students open the chat from the assignment. Their teacher can read retained conversations for that activity. A separately started Gemini chat is outside the teacher’s view, though Google says administrators may review school account activity under local policies. [3]
Google warns AI summaries can err and should not guide assessment or placement. It advises checking them against student work and transcripts. [2]
Google distinguishes this tool from Gemini Notebook. Guided Learning is meant for a focused assignment with questions that help students work through a concept. The notebook is built for exploration and can turn attached readings into study aids. [4]
