Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos won Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammys on February 1. The Recording Academy’s final results place the album in the general field’s top album category, distinct from an award limited to a particular genre. [1]

The Academy’s January 2025 account of the release describes 17 tracks recorded entirely in Puerto Rico, with Puerto Rican collaborators throughout. It identifies plena group Los Pleneros de la Cresta, indie band Chuwi and young instrumentalists from Libre de Música San Juan among the people involved. That production history gives the award a concrete local dimension: the credited musical world extends beyond the artist named on the album cover. [2]

The same account connects the album with salsa, bomba, plena and the earlier sound of reggaeton, while identifying producers MAG and Tainy. Those are useful starting points for a listener interested in the traditions and collaborators behind the release. The album came out January 5, 2025; its February 2026 award belongs to a later stage of that record’s life. [2]

Understanding the honor also requires knowing who decides it. The Academy describes the Grammys as a peer process, with voting members including performers, writers, producers and engineers. Eligibility and genre screening determines whether entries fit the rules and categories; that screening is separate from artistic voting. A Grammy outcome therefore records the choice of an industry electorate rather than a public referendum on an island’s music or a tally of listeners. [3]

For readers checking the outcome, the final winners list is the relevant record. Nomination coverage can explain which albums entered contention, but it does not establish who ultimately won. The Academy’s results distinguish Album of the Year from Record of the Year, awarded to Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s luther, and Song of the Year, awarded to WILDFLOWER. Following those separate results keeps the album’s recognition in its proper scope. [1]
