SAG-AFTRA announced ratification of its TV/theatrical agreement on June 4, 2026, covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030. [1]
That distinction reaches back to the union’s own 2012 merger. The ratification release said joining the SAG-Producers Pension Plan and AFTRA Retirement Fund had remained a goal since then. Combining the plans would stop earnings being split between them, according to the union. Union merger and benefit-fund consolidation were different steps. [1]
The executed May 27 memorandum supplies the conditions. It directs plan and trust amendments, followed by a bargaining committee attempting in good faith to agree a merger, with January 1, 2028 as its goal. Specified benefit improvements also depend on actuarial certification of projected funding. The memorandum documents a process, not completed consolidation or individual benefit outcomes. [2]
An undated union directory identifies the health plan and both retirement plans as separate organisations from SAG-AFTRA. It links to each plan’s own information, distinguishing the union’s bargaining announcement from the organisations administering benefits. [3]
