On May 6, 2026, Grand Canyon announced a June 6–13 Star Party on the South Rim. Dragon Bravo Fire impacts meant no North Rim edition. Volunteer astronomers were to share telescopes. [1]

The program reference distinguished free event entry from park admission. It described wheelchair-accessible evening programs, constellation tours and at least one telescope. Limited seating and recommended lodging reservations remained separate access considerations. [2]

Those observing conditions reflected years of lighting work. The park’s June 17, 2019 certification announcement said 69% of its lights were dark-sky compliant after retrofits. Grand Canyon Conservancy supplied almost all the project’s funding. The 90% figure was then a future goal. [3]

A June 2, 2025 park release reported that compliance had passed 90% in 2024, with full compliance due in 2029. That is documented follow-through on lighting, rather than evidence of how many people could use a telescope in 2026. [4]

The last Village Route shuttle was scheduled for 9:30 p.m.; NPS recommended viewing after 9. These notices do not measure actual journeys or attendance. [1]
