Friedrich’s recall needs more than a model match

Serial ranges are a checkpoint, not final confirmation.

CPSC’s September 17 recall covered about 2,000 Friedrich KÜHL Q and S air conditioners. A motor control board can fail and cause fire; owners should stop using recalled units and check the official recall instructions. [1]

Friedrich’s current process first checks the model, then the serial range, then requires confirmation with its representative. It expressly warns that not every unit within the listed ranges is affected. [2]

The remedy also depends on the confirmed model: impacted KHVQ10B11A units receive refunds, while other impacted models receive free replacements. A matching brand name alone does not settle eligibility or remedy. [2]
