Nevada State Parks’ October 14 notice closed parts of Ice Age Fossils’ Las Vegas Wash Trail after damage attributed to Tropical Storm Rachel. Staff advise on available routes; reopening depends on repairs and safety. [1]
The park guide describes a 1.5-mile wash trail through an Ice Age fossil landscape. Its visitor center has exhibits, water and restrooms; the guide specifically advises checking wash conditions with staff even when the park is dry. [2]
A separate park listing schedules a November 1 ranger-led wash hike. It warns of uneven, gravelly terrain, steps and steep slopes, and says most of the route is unsuitable for wheelchairs or mobility devices. Weather can cancel the program. [3]
The closure notice remained posted October 29. The planned hike is not a reopening notice; ask staff which routes are available. [1] [3]
