A cooling-station list was only a starting point
March’s Las Vegas heat response shows why hours and access rules belong beside a location.

Las Vegas’s March 16 notice directed people to daytime cooling stations for March 19–21. That activation has ended. Its regional directory illustrates a recurring service-access problem: a nearby address does not necessarily mean a place is open when someone needs it. [1]
The county list gave Cambridge Recreation Center weekday-only hours, Pearson Community Center Saturday access, and the Salvation Army 8 a.m.–4 p.m. daily. Activation did not mean uniform hours. [2]
The Courtyard Homeless Resource Center at 314 Foremaster Lane was listed 24 hours daily. Pet access was marked with an asterisk and required a carrier or leash. [2]
The city’s current service page places the Courtyard’s origins in 2017 and still describes 24-hour access, alongside housing, medical and employment partners. It also lists a pet kennel and showers. That resource differs from March’s directory; readers seeking help now should use the linked city service page rather than treat the expired activation as today’s schedule. [3]
