Las Vegas announced May 30, 2026 that work on median islands and traffic calming would begin June 1 at 18 locations. The published list included stretches of Brent Lane, Whispering Sands Drive and J Street, as well as the intersection of Sahara Avenue and Santa Paula Drive. The announcement described a planned construction program, not certification that all sites were finished. [1]

Concrete medians were intended to manage vehicle access and prevent U-turns. Other work included asphalt speed humps, signs and road markings. The city warned of temporary lane restrictions. Most scheduled work ran on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the Sahara location had overnight hours, and extra work could be authorized through August. [1]

The city named Unicon, LLC as contractor and gave a $1,463,217 budget, supported by federal money and the Regional Transportation Commission. The scope covered concrete curbing, speed humps, signs and markings across the listed locations. The notice set out construction arrangements and funding; it was not a final expenditure or completion report. [1]
