Las Vegas’ January 21, 2026 update expanded redevelopment incentives. It added tattoo businesses and non-storefront buildings to the security program, while raising the commercial visual-improvement ceiling from $25,000 to $50,000. A targeted Historic Westside area could receive relief from matching funds. [1]
The funding system predates those changes. A June 2, 2025 budget letter traces the agency to March 5, 1986 and describes two redevelopment areas. It records 9% set-asides from the agency’s property-tax receipts for education and for affordable housing. [2]
The city’s undated program guide, read October 26, describes security assistance as a rebate of up to $5,000 for pre-approved, qualified expenses, awarded first come, first served. Exterior cameras and lighting, plus locks, qualify; rent, utilities and hired security do not. English and Spanish handbooks are linked. [3]
The city said seven businesses had already received security reimbursements. Its update does not identify awards to the newly eligible groups. [1]
