UNLV’s February 25, 2026 account described free federal tax preparation by IRS-certified accounting students for eligible taxpayers earning $67,000 or less. The programme paired community service with student learning. [1]

The IRS’s undated programme guide requires volunteers to pass tax-law training and every prepared return to receive a quality review before filing. Services can vary with volunteers’ certified expertise. That explains why free preparation can have limits beyond price and income. [2]

UNLV’s January listing excluded state returns and Form 1040-NR, required identity and income records, and left final eligibility to review. Those were historical filing-season terms; the listing now marks the event ended. [3]
