Las Vegas’ January 28, 2026 notice announced early work permission for a privately funded Vegas Loop connector, with a station planned north of The STRAT. Previous tunnel work was in unincorporated Clark County. [1]
The actual off-site construction permit was issued January 27 for two Strat-to-LVCC connector tunnels. It required each phase’s inspection and approval before the next began, a preconstruction meeting and an approved traffic-barricading plan. Approval of that traffic plan alone did not authorize construction to start. [2]
An undated LVCVA reference, read October 26, describes the convention-center system as about two miles of tunnels and five campus stations. It distinguishes free campus journeys from ticketed trips outside. That operating-campus description is separate from the city’s new connector permission. [3]
The notice reserved full construction and passenger operations for later approvals, without establishing a downtown opening or measured downtown performance. [1]
