On January 14, the NCAA adopted a 15-day Division I basketball transfer-notification window starting the day after each NCAA tournament’s championship game. The decision took effect immediately. [1]

It also barred undergraduate midyear transfers from competing at a second school after first-term enrollment at an NCAA school, even without playing there. [1]

The current NCAA guide describes the Portal as a database that opens contact from other schools. Transferring also affects academic progress and eligibility; athletes should use their division’s guide and consult their compliance office. [2]

October brought a separate recruiting restriction: men’s basketball staff cannot attend other teams’ regular-season or conference-tournament games, with stated exceptions. NCAA and other postseason contests remain permitted. The NCAA described deterring premature recruiting as the aim, not a measured result. [3]
