The final needed no deciding doubles.

Italy beat Spain 2–0 in the Davis Cup final on November 23, 2025. Matteo Berrettini won his singles match before Flavio Cobolli recovered from a set down against Jaume Munar to clinch Italy’s third consecutive title. [1]
The final’s format explains why there was no doubles decider: two singles matches came first, with doubles required only if needed. Two individual victories therefore settled the national team contest; a close three-set singles match still contributed just one match win. [2]
The path to Bologna had also changed. The official format history records that 2025 replaced the preceding group stage with home-and-away qualifying rounds before the Final 8. Italy entered that last stage directly as host and defending champion; the other seven places came through qualifying. That distinction separates entry into the finals from winning the trophy. [3]
