Poland beat Switzerland 2–1 in the United Cup final on January 11, 2026. Iga Swiatek lost to Belinda Bencic, Hubert Hurkacz leveled the tie, and Katarzyna Kawa and Jan Zielinski won the deciding mixed doubles 6–4, 6–3. [1]
The 2026 rulebook makes the team format concrete: singles use best-of-three tiebreak sets, while mixed doubles uses two tiebreak sets and, at one set each, a 10-point match tiebreak. A deciding mixed contest can therefore determine the national result without following singles’ full third-set structure. [2]
Bencic nevertheless finished unbeaten in singles and received the tournament’s MVP award. The team trophy and an individual player’s results measured different achievements. [1]
