Great Britain won its fifth men’s wheelchair World Team Cup title in Orlando, with Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett taking the deciding doubles against Japan. Netherlands retained the women’s and quad titles. ITF’s account appeared September 20, after the September 16–19 event. [1] [4]
The September preview described 11 men’s, 11 women’s and eight quad teams, with a knockout draw replacing round-robin play. Seventy teams from 43 nations had contested regional qualifiers. Team selection and progression through a national draw therefore add a different competitive task to an individual ranking. [2]
The March hosting announcement linked representation to LA 2028 Paralympic eligibility. Players must represent their nations twice during the 2024–2028 cycle, including once in 2027 or 2028, alongside ranking requirements. A World Team Cup appearance meets part of that framework; it does not itself secure a Paralympic place. [3]
