The WNBA and players’ association completed and signed their long-form labor agreement on May 22. Players had ratified its terms March 23; the league’s governors followed March 24. Signing closed a different stage from reaching the initial deal. [1]

The March terms set a $7 million 2026 salary cap, compared with $1.5 million in 2025, with annual adjustments tied to league and team revenue. Minimum salaries ranged from $270,000 to $300,000 by service. Future pay projections therefore depended on revenue growth, rather than a guaranteed identical increase for every player. [2]

Working conditions had been part of the bargaining agenda before 2026. The 2020 agreement included fully paid maternity leave, a $5,000 annual childcare stipend and family-planning reimbursement for eligible veterans. That history makes player benefits a continuing labor issue alongside headline salaries. [3]

The governors’ March notice specified a seven-year agreement covering the 2026 season through 2032. At that point, the long document still needed finalization. Read together with May’s signing, the notices distinguish negotiated terms, ratification and an executed agreement; none measures what an individual player ultimately received. [4]
