Cooper Lutkenhaus won the men’s 800 meters in 1 minute, 44.24 seconds on March 22, 2026, becoming the youngest medalist in World Indoor Championships history, according to World Athletics. At 17 years and 93 days, he also became the third successive American winner of the title after Bryce Hoppel and Josh Hoey. [1]
Keely Hodgkinson won the women’s 800 meters in 1:55.30, a championship record and, at that time, the second-fastest indoor performance. Devynne Charlton equaled her own 60-meter hurdles world record of 7.65 seconds and became the event’s first three-time world indoor champion. [1]
The United States won the men’s 4×400-meter relay in a championship-record 3:01.52, just one hundredth of a second outside the ratified indoor world record. World Athletics distinguished that record from a faster 2018 performance that had not been ratified, a qualification that matters when comparing the marks. [1]
