Great Basin National Park’s October 29 notice schedules an approximately 80-acre Baker Creek burn for the week of November 2, conditions permitting. It follows 55 acres treated in October 2025. [1]

The park’s fire guide describes a prescription specifying objectives, fuels, size and environmental conditions. Its restoration work aims to reduce dense fuels before reintroducing fire; that is a management goal, not proof this planned burn has improved habitat. [2]

Baker Creek and Grey Cliffs winter campground closures begin noon November 2. The trailhead will be inaccessible during burning; smoke may pool overnight. Burn-specific closures reopen after operations and safe conditions. [1]
