Venice’s July 29, 2026 report recorded 679,553 paid access vouchers and about €5.2 million in receipts across 60 charging days. It reported €1.771 million allocated to waste-bill reductions after management costs. The figures remained provisional, and the city warned that different dates, holidays and weather complicated comparison with 2025. Transaction figures do not establish total attendance or prove that the levy reduced crowding. [1]

The payment mechanism explains part of that boundary. A March 2 municipal notice described a €5 advance-payment tariff and a €10 later-payment tariff, linking the price to booking time. It excluded Veneto residents and qualifying students from both registration and payment, and kept designated smaller islands outside the 2026 levy. Paid vouchers consequently represented an eligible subset, not every person visiting Venice. The notice described an experiment intended to support further evaluation. [2]

The next phase was a schedule, rather than a final 2027 price list. On October 15, the city approved 72 charging days between March 26 and August 15, 2027, extending the daily window to 16:30 from 16:00. That announcement left exemptions, operating arrangements and the fee structure to later decisions, within a €10 ceiling. Its calendar did not establish that the 2026 payment rules would continue unchanged. [3]
