New WHO indicators focus on heat and maternal and child health
A newly published framework addresses gaps in tracking the health effects of heat exposure.

A World Health Organization publication released October 21 sets out priority indicators for monitoring heat exposure and maternal, newborn and child health. WHO says the work was developed with WMO, UNICEF and UNFPA.
The indicators cover routine health monitoring, surveillance, climate and health data, and measures of heat exposure. They are intended to help countries track trends and adapt programs to their circumstances.
This brief summarizes the publication’s overview. It is not individual medical advice or a claim that the framework has already changed health outcomes. The complete publication is available at the source.
