Artemis II’s four astronauts returned on April 10 after flying around the Moon. NASA’s return release described a test of deep-space systems, with the crew back on Earth; it was a lunar flyby, not a surface landing. [1]

NASA’s mission overview records an April 1 launch and a duration of nine days, one hour and 32 minutes. Orion’s role includes life support, navigation, communications and radiation protection. The flight therefore exposed an integrated crewed spacecraft to conditions beyond low Earth orbit. [2]

The April 20 assessment reported less heat-shield char loss than Artemis I, but further inspections and summer sample extraction were still planned. Teams also were investigating a urine-vent-line issue. Those were initial findings and next steps, rather than a completed explanation of every flight-system issue. [3]

By October 15, NASA reported that sample extraction and internal x-ray scans had begun in August. Its post-flight assessment found heat-shield performance consistent with predictions, with nine char-loss spots versus 103 on Artemis I. Extraction, material testing and comparisons of surface scans were continuing. These later results advance the April inspection plan without establishing that all analysis or the urine-vent investigation was complete. [4]
