SEMA’s technology preview puts vehicle modification and driver assistance together
For builders and repair shops, the useful question is how a new component fits the vehicle’s systems, not just how it looks on a stand.
SEMA’s October 14 announcement places driver-assistance technology alongside powertrains and engineering tools in the 2026 FutureTech Studio program. The organizer says the Central Hall exhibit, booth 24401, will include more than 20 vehicles and 21 half-hour learning sessions across three days. These are announced details, not NewsTumble observations from the show. [1]
The announcement names sessions on ADAS performance in modified vehicles and an open discussion about ADAS and vehicle modification. The education page says its schedule is current as of October 27 and subject to change. Confirm the current session times, rooms and access in the organizer’s program before planning a route. [1] [2]
NewsTumble’s analysis: the strongest reporting opportunity is to ask what evidence supports a compatibility claim. A display vehicle demonstrates a configuration; it does not by itself establish that a part works across every trim, sensor package or software version.
For a shop evaluating a new product, useful questions include: Which exact vehicles were evaluated? What installation steps or calibration procedures are specified? Who supplies the supporting documentation? Which limitations must be explained to the customer? What changes would require the installer to stop and seek manufacturer guidance?
Those questions can also make a better story. Record the product version, the speaker’s role and the evidence they can share. Separate the manufacturer’s claim from any independent test, and distinguish a demonstration from a road-legal or safety approval. Do not infer either from a show display.
The preview gives us a reporting agenda, not the answers. NewsTumble has not tested the featured systems or confirmed the performance of any announced vehicle. Any later hands-on coverage should state exactly what was observed, who provided access and what remains untested.
